Five Easy Fit Changes

Yes, I really did park this far away.
It was for exercise...not because it was a Saturday...and all of the other spots were taken...

1. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Even better, jog up the stairs.

2. When you have to drive, park in the farthest spot you can find, and power walk to the entrance.

3. Replace soda with water or sparkling water.

4. Take time to stretch in the morning.

5. Bring your tennis shoes to work, and take a lunch-time walk.

Do you have any easy fit changes to share? I'd love to hear your ideas...

  1. My biggest challenge has been snacking! I immediately go for cookies or chips when I am stressed or to tired to make a good meal. I have started trying to make healthy snacks like cut vegetables more available. I figure if it is easy to get to, I will go to that first! I buy a big stalk of celery, wash the sticks and cut them up into smaller pieces, and then keep them in a prominent spot in the fridge. It has helped a lot. Before leaving for a road trip this weekend, I was looking for things to eat in the car and I grabbed my huge thing of celery! I ate that the entire way instead of chips and soda!

  2. Invest in a bike trailer and bike to the store. My little man loves the ride there, and is coming to terms with the ride home when we're packing all the groceries. My rule of thumb: If it's within 2 miles and I don't need to wear a dress or go on the freeway then I'm riding a bike.

    AND

Don't buy food that's bad for you or even ingredients that are bad for you, instead buy TONS of fruits and veggies.

  3. Margo - Great tip! I just got home from a road trip and you inspired me to take celery and carrots. So much better than my usual trip food.

Melissa - I LOVE your rule of thumb. You make me look lazy! I need to stop driving so much. Good for the earth too.
