It's a bond, a club, a family. I love seeing another runner out beating the same pavement. I may only mutter a passing, "Good morning," or slightly raise a hand gesturing hello, but inside I'm cheering them on. It's an exclusive alliance; a membership requiring sweat, sore muscles and getting out of bed when you'd love nothing more than throwing the covers over your head. It's an earned camaraderie. A shared title you love to claim, "Runner."
You may think there's nothing better in the world. But you'd be wrong.
There's nothing better than the day when there are no other runners in sight. It's too cold, too wet, too dark for anyone to think twice about lacing up the running shoes. That is, for anyone but you. The few cars on the road look at you and think you're absolutely nuts. You smile. You could go on forever. Nothing can stop you, not snow, not rain, not freezing temperatures. You see, you're not an average runner. You are an Iowa Fit Chick.
